Marian school officials announced the promotion of Jordan Baitinger as the Sabres' new head coach. Baitinger becomes just the fourth head coach since the program's inception in 1988 to lead the Blue and White.
With only one national champion in its history, the Division III Central Region may not fit the bill of a traditional baseball power. But what the region might lack in historical starpower, it makes up for in depth—the Central boasts close to a dozen teams with reasonable hopes of qualifying for the NCAA tournament this season.

When "Opening Day" finally comes around it's usually filled with nerves and excitement. Marian's doubleheader on opening day had plenty of both as they swept Bethany Lutheran, 6-5 and 9-3 on Thursday, March 13.
The strong pitching continued for the Sabres on Friday, March 14, as Marian defeated Macalester 4-2 at the Kino Sports Complex. Junior Bryce Taylor threw seven innings of four-hit ball, striking out nine in the process.
Kalamazoo, Western Connecticut, and Marian were all upset winners on Monday. Kalamazoo swept Alma, Western Connecticut needed one last defensive play to beat Ramapo and Marian was a winner over UW-Oshkosh.
Even rarer than throwing the seventh no-hitter in Marian history Sam Forkert, was able to turn a 10-day contract in the highly prestigious Northwoods League into a full season with the Madison Mallards.
