Mitchell's Griffin Selected for NEIBA Senior All-Star Game

BOSTON — The 29-man College Division roster has been set for the 44th Annual New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Joe Walsh All-Star Game.

Mitchell College senior shortstop Garet Griffin was one of 16 Division III players selected to participate in the game, which will be held on Thursday, May 31 in Pawtucket, R.I. First pitch at McCoy Stadium is set for noon.

The College Division team features 13 of the top Division II players in New England and 16 of the top Division III seniors in the region. The squad has players from 22 different institutions. The University Division squad, which is made up of the region's top Division I players, will be announced next week following the completion of conference tournament play.

Griffin is the second Mitchell player—and first positional player—to be selected for the senior all-star game. Former teammate Al Jordan Johnson, a pitcher, was named to the team in 2016.

Griffin, who earlier this week earned all-region first team honors from both the American Baseball Coaches Association and, batted a team-high .392 over 41 games this season. In three seasons at Mitchell he hit .383 and ranks among the school's all-time leaders in runs (116), hits (165), triples (10), homers (13), RBI (117) and steals (33).
