WALTHAM, Mass. - Senior John Micciche (Holbrook, Mass.) used his 95th career hit to deliver a pair of runs in the top of the tenth to lift the Nichols College baseball team to a 6-4 ten-inning triumph over host Lasell in a non-conference game played at Brandeis' Stein Diamond on Thursday night. The win snapped a seven-game skid for the Bison.

Senior Cody Jankins (West Brookfield, Mass.) batted 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a pair of runs scored. Senior James Curto (Braintree, Mass.) allowed three runs on five hits and struck out five in the first four and a third for the Bison. Sophomore Chris Johnson (Mansfield, Mass.) held Lasell to one unearned run on one hit and fanned three in the final five and two-thirds en route to the win.
Dustin Brown (Falmouth, Mass.) singled twice for Lasell, scoring once and driving in a run. Billy Uberti (Newton, Mass.) and Jake Salkovitz (Brockton, Mass.) each had RBI doubles in the contest for the Lasers. David Long (Brookfield, Conn.) surrendered one run on one hit in three frames before giving way to Greg Sherman (Marshfield, Mass.). Sherman yielded one run on a pair of hits with two strikeouts over four innings. Vinny Romano (Yonkers, N.Y.) allowed two runs in the tenth inning on one hit and three walks as he shouldered the loss.
Jankins used a two-out single in the top of the first inning to plate first-year Brady Boisvert (Plainfield, N.H.) as the Bison staked a 1-0 lead. Lasell answered with two runs in the bottom of the second inning when Jake Salkovitz (Brockton, Mass.) drove in one with a double and later scored on a run-producing single by Brown to take a 2-1 lead.
Nichols junior Shayne McNally (Auburn, Mass.) utilized a sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2. The hosts went back on top 3-2 in the home half of the fifth inning when a walk to Lasell's Wes Hurty (Windsor, Conn.) forced in a run. Uberti connected on an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning as Lasell extended its lead to 4-2.
Following Uberti's double, Johnson and the Bison did not allow another base runner as they set down the next 14 Lasers in order to keep the game within reach.
Nichols forced the game into extra innings after Jankins and first-year Benjamin Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) crossed home plate in the bottom of the ninth courtesy of a passed ball and a wild pitch, respectively.
After a pair of runners reached on walks, Micciche singled through the middle to plate a pair of runs giving Nichols a 6-4 lead in the top of the 10th. Lasell got out of the inning without any further damage, but were set down by a ground out, a fly out and a strikeout in the home half of the stanza.
Nichols (5-23) returns to the diamond on Friday with a visit to CCC member Endicott College for a 2:00 p.m. twinbill. Lasell (11-18) will be back in action on Saturday when it hosts GNAC foe Emerson in a doubleheader at 6:00 p.m.
