Adrian College Slays Another Top-10 Team Downing No.9-Ranked Wooster, 8-5, in Florida

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.--Seniors Ryan Dorow and Brian Killinger both went 3-for-4 at the plate and combined for five runs batted in to propel Adrian College to an 8-5 upset of nationally No. 9-ranked Wooster College on the second day of the Snowbird Collegiate Baseball Classic on Saturday.

THE BASICS

= Records: Adrian Bulldogs 4-3 overall, Wooster Fighting Scots 5-1 overall

TOP 'DAWGS
= Sophomore pitcher Jason Schroeder (1-0) went 6-2/3 strong innings and carried a no-hitter into the sixth. He finished with four strikeouts, four walks while allowing three hits and three unearned runs. 

= Dorow knocked in three runs and had a double while Killinger had two RBI.

= Senior Ian Mikowski added two hits (triple), three runs scored and a walk at the top of the order.

= Junior Hunter Hayes ripped two hits, including a double.

THE OPPOSITION
Jamie Lackner went 3-for-5 with two RBI.

Ryan Ostendorf added two hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Adrian jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead through the first three innings and never trailed in the contest.

= The Bulldogs struck quickly in the bottom of the first with three runs on three hits and a walk. The first four batters reached as Dorow had a RBI-single, Hayes doubled in a run and junior Brian Guck had a RBI-groundout.

= Adrian made it three more runs in the next frame, highlighted by a two-run double to center field from Dorow.

= Wooster got on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth when Jake Kail drew a bases loaded walk. The 'Scots scored the run without the benefit of a hit, taking advantage of two walks, two Bulldog miscues and a balk. But Schroeder was able to get a groundout to end the threat.

= Adrian was able to escape other jams by turning three double plays.

= Lackner doubled to lead off the sixth to spoil Schroeder's no-hit bid.

= Wooster plated a couple of runs in each of the seventh and ninth frames, but the Bulldogs didn't break. Jake Fling scored on a wild pitch and Lackner had a RBI-single to center in the seventh. Two innings later, Michael Wielansky had a RBI-double to right field and Lackner had another RBI-single, this time to right.

= The Fighting Scots stranded nine base runners.
