Chapman's Rauh named first team All-West Region by

ORANGE, Calif. – announced its first-ever All-Region teams on Friday and Chapman University RHP Brian Rauh has been named first team All-West Region as selected by Division III sports information directors from around the country. has compiled All-America teams in years past, but this is the first time they have chosen All-Region recipients. In addition, Rauh has twice been selected All-Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) as a freshman and sophomore.

The junior finished the season third in NCAA Division III in strikeouts with 122 and first in starts with 14. He was also fifth in strikeouts per nine innings at 11.93. Rauh was 8-1 this season for the Panthers with a 1.27 ERA in 92 innings pitched. Opponents hit just .159 against Rauh this season.

A total of 713 players were nominated in 2012 across the eight Division III regions (West, Midwest, Central, Mideast, Mid-Atlantic, South, New York and New England). For each of the eight regions, there is a regional player of the year (a batter), a pitcher of the year, a rookie of the year (must be a freshman) and a coach of the year selected in addition to the All-Region teams.
