SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Apr. 10) – Nichols junior John Micciche (Holbrook, Mass.) became the first CCC Player of the Week for the Bison baseball program in seven seasons, it was announced Tuesday morning. The honor is the first under sixth-year head coach Joe Teixeira while Sal Gesamondo was the last Bison to take home the award for his performance the week ending April 22, 2006. Tim Smith picked up a CCC Pitcher of the Week nod last season.

Micciche batted 6-for-8 last week as he collected three doubles, three RBI and scored three runs for the Bison. The third baseman posted a 1.125 slugging percentage and a .727 on-base percentage for an eye-popping 1.852 OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage).

In a 19-14 setback to Lasell, the junior went 4-for-4 at the plate with a walk and a pair of doubles while driving in a run and crossing home plate once. He followed up with a 2-for-4 outing as he smacked one double, scored twice and helped three Bison touch home in the 14-9 victory at Fitchburg State.

Nichols (3-14, 1-7 CCC) faces Elms tonight at MacKenzie Stadium in Holyoke, Mass. First pitch is slated for 7:30 p.m.

On Thursday afternoon, the squad will entertain Worcester State at 3:30 p.m. as the Bison will "Play For A Cure."
