TIFFIN, Ohio—Senior outfielder Ricky Lizcano (Toledo/Start) was named to the Preseason All-America first team by D3baseball.com, announced today. Lizcano was a preseason All-America first-team selection a year ago and has earned All-America honors both as a sophomore in 2010 and junior in 2011.
Lizcano, who is also a two-time first-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference pick, hit .410 last season with 70 hits and 115 total bases (10 doubles, four triples, nine home runs), drove in 34 runs and scored 55 more while slugging at a .661 clip.
In 2010, Lizcano set school single-season records with a .455 batting average, 95 hits, 15 home runs, 71 runs batted-in, 74 runs scored, a .534 on-base percentage and 165 total bases en route to OAC player of the year accolades.
Lizcano enters his final season in the Tri-Color as a .410 career hitter with 196 hits, 156 runs, 11 triples, 26 home runs, 128 RBI and 334 total bases, all of which are within reach of school career records.
The Student Princes will open their 2011 slate with a combined 10 games from March 4-12 at the Snowbird Baseball Classic and Gene Cusic Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla. and Ft. Myers, Fla., respectively.
