Hughes Takes Reins Of Westminster (Mo.) Baseball Program

Fulton, Mo. – Former Jefferson City Helias High School administrator, coach and teacher Dennis Hughes has been named head baseball coach at Westminster College. Hughes replaces first-year coach Luke Harrigan who is leaving Westminster for the head coach position at NCAA Division II Alderson Broaddus College in Philippi, West Virginia.

Hughes, who recently retired from Helias, guided the Crusader baseball team to a 137-38 record in eight seasons as head coach and guided the team to state titles in 1987, 1988 and 1989 before concluding his career as an administrator and teacher. He is extremely familiar with Westminster. His son, Danton, is a junior at Westminster and is a member of the baseball squad.
