Morlock Hits for Cycle in Wesley Rout
May 05, 2008
Press Release posted by Wesley Permalink
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Wesley College third baseman Grant Morlock hit for the cycle as the Wolverines closed out the regular season with a 26-3 drubbing of Polytechnic (N.Y.) in a game played at KeySpan Park, home of the Brooklyn Cyclones, the shortseason-A affiliate of the New York Mets.

The sophomore from Bel Air, Maryland started off the game with a walk and a strikeout before tripling in the third inning. He then singled in the fifth and clubbed his second homer of the year in the seventh. Just a double short of the cylce, Morlock stroked his sixth two-base hit of the year in the eighth.

He drove in four runs and scored two others.

Kevin Ellis scored five runs in the ballgame, tripled and stole a base early on.

Also homering in the contest were Geoff Kimmel and Sean Kirkpatrick. The bomb was the first of Kimmel's career, while it was the second time Kirkpatrick went deep in 2008.

Closer Colin Warner picked up his first start of the season and pitched six innings to improve to 6-0 on the year. Chris Kock closed the game in relief.

Wesley finishes up the regular season with a 27-14 mark and awaits a possible bid to the ECAC Tournament.
