CEDAR RAPIDS – Wartburg senior pitcher Jerrold Martijn, just two days removed from a complete-game win over Buena Vista University in game one of the 2009 Iowa Conference baseball Championships, came back and lifted the fourth-seeded Knights into the ultimate tournament championship game against second-seeded Luther Saturday, May 9.

Martijn, upping his record to 10-1, threw a complete-game eight-hitter, giving up four runs and striking out eight in the 8-4 Wartburg victory. He also contributed with his bat, going two-for-four with a run scored. Junior infielder Danny Rose and sophomore outfielder Patrick Grau highlighted a six-run seventh inning rally with Rose doubling in two runs and Grau drilling a two-run triple.

Luther (29-12) was guided offensively by shortstop Steve Beckman. He finished two-for-two with two runs scored.
