Ranked 6th in the final D3baseball.com poll and 10th by the ABCA, UT-Tyler ended the 2008 campaign with a 36-9 record and its third American Southwest Conference (ASC) East Championship in the past four years. The Patriots held serve in the Top 25 polls for most of the season but were left out of the Field of 54 in the NCAA Tournament.

Trinity (Texas) finished the year at 35-15 overall after winning the SCAC Tournament Championship in dramatic fashion and advancing to the championship game of the NCAA West Regional in Abilene, Texas. The Tigers finished in the top 16 nationally as they made their fourth NCAA appearance since the 2002 season.

Missing out on its first American Southwest Conference postseason tournament, the Comets of UT-Dallas won their final home series of the season over ETBU to end the year at 22-16 overall. They made it to the NCAA West Regional championship game in 2007.

The Majors finished the year 29-18 overall after surrendering four runs in the bottom of the ninth in the championship game of the SCAC Tournament to miss out of the postseason.
