PFISTER PICKS UP HIS 200th-CAREER HIT AGAINST DEPAUW
(Mar. 28) Emory University’s Frank Pfister reached a rare milestone on Wednesday, as the Eagles’ third baseman picked up his 200th-career hit with a single in the third inning against DePauw University (Ind.).
Pfister becomes the eighth Eagle to reach the mark, and the first since Brian Langbord recorded the milestone during the 2006 season. The senior went two-for-three in the game, and now has 201 career hits, tying him with Mike Garvis for seventh in school history in the category. Pfister is now three-hits shy of Langbord’s 204 career knocks for sixth in school history, 11 shy of Chris McAuley for fifth, and 14 shy of Brad wands for fourth. Last season, he set the school single-season record in hits with 87, batting .387 during the year.
Pfister is batting .424 through 23 Emory games, and has played every inning for the Eagles this season at third base, committing just six errors in 85 chances. He has a team-bests with five home runs and 37 runs batted in, and is on pace to set the school record in the latter category.
Earlier in the week, Pfister was named the University Athletic Association’s Most Valuable Player, earning a spot on the all-Association first team for the third-straight season. In 2007, Pfister was named to the all-NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament team, and was the Most Valuable Player of the NCAA South Regional Tournament.
