This past January we took the pulse of D-III baseball and made our predictions. Now with the regular season behind and the regional playoff round about to start we reassessed our predictions. In our regional previews we pick our favorites to advance, our Cinderella and the team most likely to disappoint in each regional.

Our playoff picks in the New York (Cortland), Mid-Atlantic (Kean), and Midwest (UW-Stevens Point) are the same today as they were in January. Heidelberg and Western New England looked like safe choices four months ago and although they are no longer our favorites to move out of the regional, both are seeded second in their respective regional.

Linfield, our pick in the west regional, was considered back in January but we favored Trinity (Texas). In the Central regional the number one seed is Coe and our pick was conference mate Buena Vista. Both teams are in the playoffs but it is Thomas More, coming over from the Mideast region, who we think will come out of Central and advance.
