All three games ended in a 3-2 score, and it took the last one 13 innings to get that far, as the first day of the Division III baseball Midwest Regional demonstrated that 2011 is the year of the pitcher.

UW-Stevens Point walked off with a suicide squeeze in the bottom of the 10th inning after the Pointers rallied from a 2-0 deficit against Aurora. St. Thomas allowed just four hits but it was enough for UW-Whitewater to squeak out a 3-2 win, and Hamline finished off St. Scholastica in the 13th inning.

In the middle game of the three, the Warhawks managed only four hits off freshman pitchers Zach Franz and Mark Ulrich, but they scored one run on a single, the second on an infield single and the third on a sacrifice fly and made two key defensive plays in the late innings to hold off the Tommies.
