Texas-Tyler defeated Castleton State, 4-1, on Monday afternoon
at Irwin Field in the first game of a two game series. The
Patriots, who have now won five in a row, improve to 6-1 overall on
the season. Chase Willard was the Patriot's starter and earned the
victory, going seven innings and allowed only three hits and struck
out two. Derek Miller finished the game and recorded the save,
going two innings and striking out four Spartan batters.
No. 21 Shenandoah bounced back from a pair of losses with a 9-2
non-league baseball victory over King's (Pa.). Senior Bryce Sears
allowed one run on four hits and three walks in 7.0 innings of
work. He struck out six before turning it over to classmate Kyle
Gladu for the final six outs. Nick Beall led the offense with a 3
for 4 afternoon that included two RBI while Nelson, Powers, Kurt
Krout and Jake Pendergraft all had two hits.
The Battling Bishop baseball team picked up an 11-1 victory over
visiting Maine-Presque Isle on Monday afternoon. Senior hurler
Shane Flynn earned his first win of the season, tossing five
scoreless innings and allowing just one hit while striking out six.
Junior Jake Alexander was 3-for-3 at the plate for Wesleyan with a
pair of RBIs and two runs scored. Freshman J.J. Rodriguez also
ripped three hits on the day.
Junior Doug Scherer threw a complete game three-hitter to lead
LaGrange past Washington and Lee 4-1 in Williamson Stadium at
Cleaveland Field. Scherer only allowed the Generals an unearned run
in the second inning. The right-hander had a career-high nine
strikeouts while walking only one. The complete game was Scherer's
first as a Panther.
Lee Rozins
had two walks and one RBI to go with his two hits in the
Roadrunners win.

Ramapo remained undefeated with a win over St. Joseph's
(Brooklyn), 16-2 at the Cal Ripken Experience. Mark Delannoy struck
out seven and surrendered only three hits over five innings of work
to pick up his first win of the season. Lee Rozins and Matt Hancock
led the Roadrunners at the plate, each collecting two hits and two
runs scored.
The College of Idaho took advantage of errors, walks and hit
batsmen to build early leads in both games, as the Coyotes swept
Willamette in a baseball doubleheader at Wolfe Field. The Yotes won
the first game, 18-1, and the second game, 7-4.
