Playoff projections coming tonight

Leon Stimpson raised his average to .360 by going 3-for-5 in Alvernia's 9-3 win against St. John Fisher.

Tonight, after the last handful of conference titles have been handed out, the NCAA committee will meet and determine who gets the at-large bids and who will go where in the 2011 Division III NCAA baseball playoffs.

We'll learn their pairings on Monday. Meanwhile, our mock committee will meet tonight as well and you'll get our opinion a little earlier. Some of the 15 truly at-large (Pool C) bids will be easy to give out. (We see you out there, Shenandoah.) A team like Heidelberg is easy to picture being in the field as well. But what of, say, Bethany Lutheran, which missed out on the first-ever UMAC baseball automatic bid? How about North Park?

Those are the questions we'll be wrestling with. Check back throughout the day for the final results to come in and see our projections tonight!
