Jordan Walton notched his 78th hit of the season in the sixth inning of game two Saturday in Ashland to break the ODAC single season hits record as Randolph-Macon swept York 13-2 and 3-1. The junior's double breaks the ODAC single season hits record previously set by former Randolph-Macon assistant and Lynchburg graduate Lucas Jones.
It will be a rematch of the 2010 championship series as Johns Hopkins and Haverford square off Sunday in the Centennial baseball tournament. Matt Wiegand delivered one of his finest performances of the season as he went the distance to lift top-seeded Johns Hopkins to an 5-3 victory over third-seeded Franklin & Marshall in the semifinal round of the Centennial Conference Tournament. The Fords ousted both Ursinus and the Diplomats. Haverford used its offense in a 19-2 win over Franklin & Marshall and in their second game of the day, Jonny Williams tossed a complete-game five-hitter to pick up his seventh win of the season, tying Haverford's single-season record
Staten Island committed a season-high seven errors as the top-seeded Dolphins dropped an 8-4 decision to No. 2 Baruch in the first leg of the CUNYAC Championship Final held at MCU Ballpark in Brooklyn, New York. The win by Baruch, which suffered a loss earlier in the tourney, will force a one-game, winner-take-all, Final for the CUNYAC crown on Tuesday at MCU Ballpark. Staten Island reached the championship game with a 6-2 win over John Jay. Baruch beat John Jay to meet the Dolphins for the conference tournament title.

The McMurry War Hawks stunned the No. 5 ranked Texas-Tyler on their home turf at Irwin Field and took a 5-4 victory to knock the patriots out of the ASC Baseball Tournament. Elsewhere the top seeded teams swept their opponents to move onto the next round of the ACS tournament. Concordia (Texas) defeated Louisiana College 19-7, 10-0, Texas-Dallas defeated Texas Lutheran 4-1, 3-1, and Hardin-Simmons defeated Mississippi College 8-6, 12-11 in 14 innings. In the extra inning game, Hardin-Simmons was not to be denied. The Cowboys scored three runs to tie the game in the ninth and matched the Choctaws run for run until Tony Tarrant ended the game in the 14th inning.
Chad Rafferty tossed a complete-game shutout and fanned a career-high 12 batters to help propel top-seeded Saint Joseph's past #2 Johnson & Wales, 4-0, in a GNAC Tournament Semifinal contest at Larry Mahaney Diamond St. Joe's will face #3 Suffolk in the conference championship tomorrow at Mahaney Diamond. Suffolk defeated Lassel 10-3 and Johnson & Wales 7-2 to come out of the losers bracket.

The Husson Eagles claimed the North Atlantic Conference
(NEAC-East Division) Championship with a 3-1 victory over the
Castleton Spartans. A tremendous rivalry exists between the
Eagles and Spartans, having met in the East Division Championship
for the past three years and Husson has appeared in the
championship for seven consecutive years. While the Spartans
took the title last year, the Eagles reclaimed it with sharp
pitching and timely hitting. With the win, Husson will travel to
Castleton for the Divisional Crossover Championship next week. The
winner of that three-game series will receive an automatic
qualifier for the NCAA Tournament.
No. 1 Marietta stayed on track for the OAC regular season
championship with a 6-0 and 6-1 doubleheader sweep of visiting
Otterbein in front of a 13th annual Community Day crowd on
Alumni Weekend at Don Schaly Stadium. The Pioneers, who are now
13-1 in the OAC extended their lead to three games over second
place Heidelberg.
Kean cruised to a 16-4 victory in the opener before falling, 11-7, in a late William Paterson rally in the nightcap to earn a split in Saturday's NJAC action at Jeff Albies Field. With a win in their final NJAC game against Ramapo, Kean will share the regular season title with Rowan.
With today's action the Cougars are 30-7 overall and 13-4 in the NJAC, trailing Rowan University by one game in the win column. Rowan has finished their conference schedule with a 14-4 record. Kean has one makeup game left against Ramapo College scheduled for Monday afternoon. William Paterson kept their playoff hopes alive and now has 19-16-1 overall record and 7-9 record in conference action.
Heidelberg closed out the month of April with an OAC
doubleheader split with Capital at Peaceful Valley. Heidelberg
posted a 5-3 victory in game one, but could not overcome an early
7-0 lead by Capital in game two and suffered an 8-5 setback.
No 14 UW-Oshkosh used Luke Westphal's pitching gem and Tyler
Kamps' walk-off single to sweep a
baseball doubleheader against No. 9 UW-Whitewater at Tiedemann
Field. Westphal did not walk a batter as he struck out five in a
4-1, complete-game win, snapping a six-game losing streak to
UW-Whitewater with the victory. Down by one during the ninth inning
of game two, Bobby Kachel drew a leadoff walk. A sacrifice, single
and wild pitch placed runners on second and third base. Kamps then
ripped an infield single, and when the Warhawks threw the ball
away, Nolan Fadness scored for the 5-4 win.

No. 15 Chapman opened a crucial three-game series against fellow West Region independent University of Dallas with a pair of wins at Hart Park. The Panthers got a 6-5 walk-off win in the first game thanks to an RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning from Tyler Hadzinsky. Jordan Sigman capped the day with seven innings of four-hit ball in a 10-1 victory in game two. With the doubleheader sweep Chapman (26-10) extended its home winning streak to 18 games.
UW-Stevens Point pushed its winning streak back to four games
with a Saturday sweep, taking both games of a doubleheader against
the Pioneers of UW-Platteville at Kendall Murray Field. The
Pointers took game one 9-4 and won game two 15-3 in seven innings
over the host Pioneers.
Andrew Thole tied Thomas More's single-season home run record to
lead 24th-ranked Thomas More to a Presidents' Athletic Conference
doubleheader sweep of Thiel at Thomas More Field. The Saints
won game one, 2-0, and the nightcap, 12-6.
Penn State Behrend, led by a couple of homers by Matt Bittner,
picked up two big wins at Pitt-Bradford, 20-16 and 10-0 to close
out the AMCC regular season. The Lions battled back from an early
6-1 deficit by posting 10 runs on six hits in the fourth inning,
spurred by first baseman Harry Latta's three-run bomb over the
leftfield fence, 11-6. The Panthers (18-12, 8-7 AMCC) rallied in
the bottom of the fourth scoring three runs all earned off of Ryan
Jacobs, 11-9.

Penn State Altoona picked up two of its biggest victories
of the season, winning 6-5 and 3-1 against conference foe Mount
Aloysius at Calandra-Smith Field to clinch first place in the AMCC
in their final regular season games.
Hits were scarce but Central centerfielder Sam Stetzel and second
baseman Adam Ariola delivered the game-winning two-out blasts as
the Dutch overcame Cornell with a three-run ninth inning, sweeping the
three-game Iowa Conference set with a 4-3 win.
Junior shortstop Kyle Allaire went 7-for-9 with four runs scored
and three RBI, while classmate first baseman Dan Hopkins went
4-for-8 with five runs scored, two homers and three RBI, as the Rhode
Island split a Little East doubleheader at Western Connecticut.
Both teams kept their Little East Conference Tournament hopes alive
following Saturday's split at Westside Field. The Colonials edged
out the Anchormen, 4-3 in 10 innings in the opener. Rhode Island
captured the nightcap, 16-6 in eight innings.
Mitchell clinched first place in the NECC regular season
standings by splitting a doubleheader at Southern Vermont,
falling 4-1 in the first game before bouncing back for a 12-3 win
in the nightcap. Mitchell also earned the top seed and the right to
host the 2011 NECC Baseball Championship.
Washington & Jefferson completed a three-game sweep of
Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Waynesburg with two wins at
Ross Memorial Park. The Presidents took the first game 8-2 after
they honored their seven-member senior class as part of the Senior
Day ceremony at the ballpark. W&J followed that with a 8-3 win
in the nightcap. W&J is one game ahead of Thomas More in the
PAC standings heading into their series next weekend in
Kentucky.

Sophomore outfielder Michael Rueger went 7-for-10 with three
doubles, three runs, and three RBI to lead Trinity (Conn.) to a
9-6, 11-2 doubleheader sweep against visiting Middlebury in NESCAC
crossover baseball action. By virtue of Amherst taking two from
Wesleyan today, Middlebury has qualified for the NESCAC Tournament
for the first time since 2006, when they won their first title.
Sophomore first baseman Jeff Boice slugged a grand slam home run
in the opener and was 3 for 5 with two RBI in the second game to lead
Fitchburg State to a 4-2, 12-1 sweep of Westfield State.
Westfield State had clinched the MASCAC regular season baseball
championship prior to its final conference games of the season vs.
Fitchburg. The Owls will host the MASCAC Tournament next
weekend, beginning with a semifinal round game on Thursday.
Matt Pelletier's two-run single highlighted a four-run fourth
inning rally that propelled Mass-Maritime to a 5-2 victory over
Worcester State in the opening of a MASCAC doubleheader at Tivnan
Field. The host Lancers overcame a three-run deficit to notch
a 7-5 triumph in the nightcap and gain a split
of the twinbill.
Westminster secured its seventh 20-win season in team history as the
Titans swept a doubleheader against visiting Bethany by scores of
6-3 and 8-0. Westminster's 20-win season is its first since
2008 as it has now won 20 or more games in five of the last 10
seasons. Three Titans collected four hits apiece in the twin bill
as Ethan Yeager went 4-for-5, Tim Wiand batted 4-for-6 with
four runs and three RBI, and Rick DeBlasio went 4-for-7.

Rose-Hulman Jeff Jenkins picked up his 600th career victory as a
college head coach to highlight Saturday's Senior Day split with
Manchester. Jenkins won his 555th game at Rose-Hulman and the 600th
of his 25-year NCAA Division III coaching career in the nightcap.
Manchester won the opener 6-1 behind a strong pitching
effort. Rose-Hulman relied on a solid pitching performance of
its own to claim a 4-2 victory in the nightcap.
The Yellow Jackets could not slow Franklin, as the Grizzlies
scored 23 runs on 30 hits in a doubleheader sweep over Defiance.
Franklin held the Jackets to just two hits in a 9-0 victory in the
opener, before taking a 14-2 win to finish the sweep.
Lesley dropped the first two games of its three-game set with
Becker, 7-1 and 10-2, at Trum Field. Hawks outfielder Todd Tompkins
went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in the
opener and 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, and RBI and another run
scored in Game 2.
Southern Maine and Keene State split their Little East Conference
doubleheader at the USM Baseball Stadium. Southern Maine took
the opener 6-5 behind the pitching of senior right-hander Ben
Ives. Keene State won the nightcap 9-4 as senior Bobby Doyon
went 4 for 5 with three RBI.
In a doubleheader that featured four outstanding pitching performances New Jersey City senior right-hander Westley Lopez capped his career a winner by tossing a complete-game effort as the Gothic Knights wrapped up the 2011 NJAC schedule by knocking off Richard Stockton, 3-2, at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex. Stockton took a two-hitter into the ninth inning of game one before it prevailed, 4-1.
Salve Regina and Wentworth closed their regular season, with Salve Regina taking a 6-3 win over the Leopards. The game was a make-up of the teams' Thursday afternoon contest, which was postponed due to rain. Tom Glynn, Brandon Bursie, and Dominic De Sano each drove in runs for the Seahawks .
