Stevens Point gains on league leader Whitewater

Seventeenth ranked UW-Stevens Point belted out 33 hits over two games to sweep a WIAC doubleheader on Sunday afternoon against the Eagles of UW-La Crosse, winning the opener 13-3 in eight innings and 16-12 in the nightcap.
UW-Whitewater, ranked tenth in the latest D3baseball.com poll,
improved to 16-5 overall after a split with UW-Stout in Menomonie,
Wisconsin at Nelson Field. The Blue Devils won game one 14-8
while the 'Hawks turned the tables winning game two 13-8. UW-Stout
is now 9-12 and 4-5.
Sophomore Chris Jackson and sophomore Matt Wild each homered and
drove in four runs as nationally 12th-ranked Cortland defeated
Fredonia, 15-3. Jackson finished 4-for-6 with a homer, triple, four
RBI and three runs scored. Wild
went 3-for-4 with a homer, two walks and four RBI. The Red Dragons
improve to 11-1 in SUNYAC play and 22-6 overall.
In a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader pitting the two PAC teams with the most overall wins, Westminster (Pa.) split a doubleheader at No. 18-ranked Thomas More. Thomas More needed a walk-off home run to beat Westminster, 8-5, in the first game before the Titans came back to win the second game 12-8.
After taking Game 1 on Saturday, 5-4, Dallas completed a two game sweep of Trinity (Texas) in dramatic fashion with a 4-3 walk-off 10th-inning victory over the Tigers. In the extra frame, Crusader third base coach Kyle Kilgo called for a safety squeeze and Mark Carlson dropped down a perfect bunt to bring home Adam Farris, the winning run of the game.
Beloit split a doubleheader with Ripon. The Buc won game one 5-2
behind Alex Norman before dropping game two to Ripon, 7-1.
Norman pushed his record to 5-1 on the season with his fourth
complete game of the season in game one, allowing two earned runs
on five hits while striking out seven and walking two.
Eureka senior first baseman Tim Cashdollar hit his sixth career
home run in the second game of the Red Devils' St. Louis
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Webster, but
the Gorloks broke out for 21 runs over the course of the afternoon
to win two contests over Eureka at GCS Ballpark in Sauget,
Ill. Webster won game one, 12-0, and also claimed game two,
9-1 to sweep the weekend series from the Red Devils.
Wheaton (Mass.) scored nine of Sunday's final 10 runs while
snapping Keene State's seven-game winning streak, as the Lyons emerged
victorious for the fourth straight time following a 9-3
non-conference victory in a battle of regional heavyweights at
Sidell Stadium. Senior Sean Munley went 3-for-5 with three RBI to
lead the Lyons. Dan Haugh smacked his career-high-tying 17th double
of the spring while picking up his 50th RBI.
Scranton got two masterful pitching performances from juniors Rocky Sawyer and Corey Gorman to complete a three-game Landmark Conference sweep of Drew at Connell Park. In the opener, Sawyer struck out a career-high 11 batters and scattered three hits over six innings en route to a 12-0 victory.

The North Central (Ill.) moved to within a half-game of the lead in the CCIW standings on Sunday, as the Cardinals swept a double header against Elmhurst , 15-1 and 11-10, at Butterfield Park. With the loss, Elmhurst slipped under .500 overall.
Pacific turned in it’s best offensive game in nearly three
weeks in their home finale but in the end it still came down to a
manufactured run in the 11th inning for the Boxers to
pull out a 6-5 win over Whitworth in at Chuck Bafaro Stadium.
The Boxers’ 12 hits were their most since amassing 18 hits in
a 9-9, 11-inning tie with Menlo on Mar. 27.
Following a pair of exhilarating, down-to-the-wire victories and a
third win to complete a sweep of Susquehanna, Catholic moved into a
tie for first place in the Landmark Conference. Catholic
downed the Crusaders 12-11 in the opener, 5-4 in walk-off fashion
in the second game and 11-5 in the nightcap to improve to 11-1 in
conference action. Brendan Breslin, Dan Sullivan and Marc Kalokitis
all had big offensive days for Catholic in the weekend series.
Illinois Wesleyan defeated North Park, 13-7, in the first game of
two CCIW contests in Chicago before losing a 12-9 decision in the
nightcap. In the second game, The Titans banged out 15 hits
building a 7-5 lead but the Vikings out scored Illinois Wesleyan
7-2 to earn a split of the doubleheader.
Three George Fox pitchers combined on a five-hitter and Dan
Winterstein slugged his team-high fifth home run to ignite the
offense as the Bruins took the rubber game of a three-game NWC
series from the Lewis & Clark Pioneers 4-1 at West Linn High
School.
