Keystone head baseball coach Jamie Shevchik picked up career win
number 300 as the Giants took both ends of their CSAC doubleheader
with Marywood, 9-1 and 5-0.
The Giants completed the season sweep, having defeated the Pacers
on Friday 12-1. Shevchik hit the coaching milestone with his
team's victory in game one of the doubleheader.
In the opener Blaine O'Brien was dominant on the mound, working the
complete game to move to 5-1 on the year. O'Brien struck out
four, while allowing one unearned run on three hits.
Keystone knocked out a dozen hits with Esteban Meletiche picking up
three, while also scoring twice.
Andrew Siano, Kumar Piar and Frank Mormino each added two hits,
with Siano including a triple in the mix. Siano, Piar, Andy
Vega and Gabe Torres each drove in a pair, as the Giants used a
three run third and four run fourth inning to put the game out of
reach.
Jared Yanniello led Marywood with two hits.
Game two, which was called after five innings due to rain,
showcased another solid pitching performance by the Keystone staff,
as Brad Higgins went the distance to pick up his third win of the
year. Higgins struck out five, while allowing just two
hits.
Ricky Espinosa provided the big blast for the Giants with a two run
home run. Vega doubled twice to lead the squad with two hits,
while Meletiche chipped in with a triple.
With the sweep Keystone moves to 17-8 overall and 10-1 in the
conference, while Marywood falls to 12-15 and 5-9.
