Haverford swept its doubleheader against Defiance, taking game
one, 6-1, and the nightcap, 7-4. Colin Sarafin and Jonny Williams
both tossed complete games to earn victories. Sarafin struck out
seven and allowed just one run on three hits in his seven innings
of work. Williams surrendered four earned runs on eight hits while
fanning eight batters to pick up the win.

Days after Chapman dropped to No. 20 in the D3Baseball.com top-25 poll, the Panthers made their protest on the diamond. Chapman defeated No. 2-ranked Kean 4-3 at Hart Park on Friday night for its 10th consecutive victory behind a complete-game effort from All-American sophomore Brian Rauh. Chapman rallied from a 2-0 deficit with single runs in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings to take a 4-2 lead into the ninth and held on the upset win.
Coe scored four times in the top of the sixth inning to erase a 4-3 lead by New Jersey City and outlasted NJCU, 7-5, at the Russ Matt College Invitational at Lake Myrtle Park. NJCU outhit the Kohawks, 12-11.
Ian Williams tripled in two runs in the bottom of the 9th to tie the score at 14-14 for Bridgewater State (Mass.) against Salve Regina in non-league baseball action at the Vero Beach Sports Village. Williams later scored the game-winner as Matt Barseleau singled up the middle against a drawn in Seahawk infield.
Thomas More closed out its Florida swing with a 14-3 win over No. 15-ranked UMass-Boston on the final day of the Russ Matt Central Florida Invitational in Winter Haven, Florida.With the win, the Saints improve to 5-0 on the season. This was the season opener for UMass-Boston.
Top ranked Heidelberg extended its season opening win streak to five games following a 9-1 victory over Kenyon at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Fla. Heidelberg’s defense turned three double plays to help back up freshman Zach O’Driscoll on the mound. In his first collegiate start O’Driscoll gave up six hits in six innings of work, while striking out one and walking one. The victory marked the 350th for Heidelberg head coach Matt Palm.
Brandeis broke open a tie game with four runs in the top of the seventh inning as the Judges posted a 5-2 win over Washington (Mo.) at the UAA Championship on Friday night at Sanford Memorial Stadium in Sanford, Fla. In other tournament action, Emory was 1-1 on the day with a 7-5 win over Rochester and a 7-8 loss to Case Western. Emory and Brandeis are tied for the tournament lead with identical 2-1 records.
Rookie shortstop Billy Steel hit his second career home run and drove in three runs in a perfect 3-for-3 performance to lead 14th ranked Christopher Newport past Virginia Wesleyan on the road, 10-1.
Carthage opened its 2011 season on Friday, March 11 by sweeping a doubleheader from Muskingum, 2-1 and 4-1, at North County Regional Park in North Port, Florida. The Red Men's first real test will be against Marietta on Saturday.
