Junior right-handed pitcher Josh Scott threw a no-hitter as
Baldwin-Wallace defeated Ohio Christian, 12-0, Saturday, March 19,
2011 at Veterans Administration Memorial Stadium.
Scott (2-0) went seven innings and struck out six without allowing
a walk. Scott’s no-hitter was the fourth school
history and the first since Aaron Krieger no-hit Ohio Northern in
2005. He lost his perfect game bid in the third inning when
the leadoff batter struck out, but the catcher was charged with a
passed ball and error when he missed the third strike and the
batter reached first base. The leadoff hitter in the bottom of the
seventh reached via an error on the Yellow Jacket first
baseman.
The Yellow Jackets struck first as they scored two in the first
inning and added another run in the second inning.
Baldwin-Wallace would increase its lead to 8-0 after scoring five
runs in the fourth and would make it 11-0 after scoring three more
runs in the fifth inning. Baldwin-Wallace added one more run
in the sixth bringing the score to 12-0. The game ended after
the seventh inning due to the 10-run rule.
At the plate, the Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore first
baseman Dan Craft and sophomore centerfielder Nolan Neuschaefer as
each player had two base hits. Craft went two-for-three knocking in
two runs and Neuschaefer also went 2-for-3 with a triple, RBI and
three runs scored. In addition, senior catcher John Ulanski
and sophomore second baseman Keith Blazek each had a hit and two
RBI.
