Texas-Tyler's David Ring hit for the cycle and batted in four runs as the Patriots cruised to a 14-1 victory over Castleton State in non-conference action on Tuesday night at Irwin Field. Ring, a junior outfielder, became only the second Patriot to hit for the cycle after Phil Grau in 2005. The win brings no. 22 Texas Tyler's record to 8-0 on the season.

With Texas-Tyler putting up runs in bunches most of the attention on the night went to Ring and his quest for the cycle. After his triple in the first inning, Ring completed the cycle with a sharp line drive double into the left field corner.  Ring's single came in the fourth inning and he homered in the fifth.

In near freezing weather Chad Fahey struck out 14 batters in six innings to lead Pacific to a 5-3 win over Corban in the Boxers’ 2011 home baseball opener at Chuck Bafaro Stadium. Fahey earned his first win of the season with a masterful pitching performance.  In his six innings of work, Fahey allowed four hits and two walks to go along with the 14 Ks. It was the most strikeouts for a Pacific pitcher since Adam Azril struck out 13 against Lewis & Clark on Mar. 29, 2005.

Maryville used a 16 hit attack to push their winning streak to three games as the Scots defeated Sewanee 15-4 at Scotland Yard. Senior shortstop Myles Cordell led the offensive fire power with three home runs and nine runs batted in on the evening. Cordell finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Outfielder Nic Baker stroked a three-run dinger to left field while Alcoa product Sam Waltermeyer recorded his first round tripper in the Orange and Garnet.

Howard Payne won their first home game of the season 7-3 over Arlington Baptist at Don Shepard Park. The Jackets got off to a strong start with three runs in the bottom of the first and one in the second. After that, Billy Ray Cruz, the Jackets starting pitcher would shut down the Patriots offense, throwing six scoreless innings, giving up only three hits, with two strike outs.
