Cru, Kingmen, Majors score opening week wins
In the season opener for Cal Lutheran, Jordan Ott went 4-for-6 on the day with two home runs and seven RBI as the
Kingmen overwhelmed La Sierra in a doubleheader last Sunday, winning 14-0 in the first game and 18-0 in the second. Nine Kingsmen pitchers combined to allow no runs and just seven hits over 16 innings. Cal Lutheran kept winning with a road victory on Wednesday afternoon. They used a four-run eighth inning to provide the margin in a
12-8 victory over Westmont. A late two-out rally capped off by two-run hits from K.C. Judge and Travis Dadigian completed the come-from-behind win.
In other action: Mary Hardin-Baylor built an early lead and then held off Texas-Tyler's comeback bid as the Cru posted a 9-8 victory over the Patriots Friday night in the opening contest of the Easton Classic Tournament.
Mary Hardin-Baylor improved to 2-0 on the season with the victory, having posted a 8-6 victory over Southwestern Assembly of God on Tuesday. The loss drops Texas-Tyler, the defending American Southwest Conference champions, to 0-1 on the year. Leading the Cru was Josh Fredrick who finished the game 3-5 with a home run and 2 RBIs.
Millsaps started the season with a win over the visiting University of the Ozarks Friday night at Twenty Field. The Majors showing patience at the plate, recording as many walks as hits, en route to the 16-2 victory. The Majors (1-0) scored 16 runs on 11 hits and 11 walks and as a team stole nine bases led by junior Jeremy Aliff's three.
